Bail Bonds-How do they work?

bondsman, or a bail bond agent, is any person or corporation that will act as a surety and pledge money or property as bail for the appearance of persons accused in court. He is a company representative or an individual who presents a surety bond to a court of law to affect the release of a defendant who would otherwise be held in jail until trial.

How does a Bail Bond work?

When a person is arrested, they are taken to a jail to be booked and processed. At that time, the crime he or she has been charged with is referenced against that county’s bail schedule, and bail will be set based on the charges. From that point the defendant has two options in terms of getting out of jail: either post the full bail amount with the court or hire a bail bondsman.

If a bondsman is used, the defendant can get out of jail by paying just 10% of the full amount of their bail to a bondsman. That money, however, is a fee charged by the company for their services and is not refundable.

Top reasons to prefer bail bonds

Saves money:  If you hire a bail bondsman, you need to pay only fraction of the total bail money.

Save Time: A bail bonds man gets you quickly out of jail without any delay.

Confidential: A bail bond agent keeps all information confidential.

Convenience: If your loved ones is far away from you, you can complete the entire process via phone.
